Earth Day 2024 Neighbourhood Cleanup Report

We had an amazing turnout and filled many garbage bags. We cleaned the entire loop around the neighborhood as well as the trail all the way to 6th street. Thanks to everyone that pitched in. As always, if you see trash along your walk, pick it up and put it in the trash. Every day is Earth Day. Did You Know? Earth Day Facts: There were so many groups around the Greater Moncton area that participated to help clean up our city. Thanks to our neighbors that helped in any part of the city cleanup. Together, we can make every…

Earth Day Community Cleanup!

Hi Neighbours, Facebook Event – Please RSVP – This will help determine what we need for supplies It seems that Saturday, April 20, 2024, has garnered the most votes for our community cleanup day. Our designated zone for the trail cleanup is Zone 17 (refer to the attached image). I propose that we commence at the entrance of our neighborhood and progress along both sides of the circle, culminating towards the end of the trail at 6th St/St. George Blvd. Let’s aim to dedicate a couple of hours to our efforts. In light of safety concerns, I suggest avoiding the…

Frederick Lucius (Ted) Fitzpatrick 1943 – 2024

A life well lived Ted Fitzpatrick passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024, at his home in Moncton’s Franklin Crossing neighbourhood. Born in Montreal on May 14, 1943, he spent his formative years in Ottawa. He enlisted in the Canadian Forces signal corps on completion of high school, and after six years of military service in Germany returned to civilian life to resume his education. He then launched a successful business career, working for several large corporations before opening his own boat and recreational vehicle dealership in Barry’s Bay, Ontario. It was there that he met Gerry…

Curbing Unwanted Mail: A Step Towards Reducing Waste and Clutter

Just over a week ago, I made a firm decision to put an end to the influx of unnecessary junk mail overflowing in my mailbox. The breaking point was a tiny book, absurdly thick and seemingly destined for the trash bin upon arrival. This blatant wastage sparked a realization of the sheer volume of these items meeting their fate without a second glance. It’s disheartening to witness a continuous stream of flyers and advertisements that not only clutter our mailboxes but also contribute to environmental concerns. We diligently pay carbon taxes for essential needs such as transportation and home heating…

2023-2024 Snow Removal

Cooler nights are telling us that another New Brunswick winter is just a few months away. But here’s alittle good news! It won’t cost you any more to deal with snow removal in 2023-24. The SnowCommittee (which is soon to be rolled into our new neighbourhood association) has accepted an offerfrom MVL Snow Removal to meet our needs under the same terms and conditions as last year. Author Steve Kikkert Steve is our neighborhood webmaster. He runs a web design and hosting company in his spare time. View all posts
