Earth Day 2024 Neighbourhood Cleanup Report

We had an amazing turnout and filled many garbage bags. We cleaned the entire loop around the neighborhood as well as the trail all the way to 6th street. Thanks to everyone that pitched in. As always, if you see trash along your walk, pick it up and put it in the trash. Every day is Earth Day.

Did You Know? Earth Day Facts:

  1. Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970 and is now observed in over 190 countries.
  2. Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to listen to a full album on your iPod. Recycling 100 cans could light your bedroom for two whole weeks!
  3. More than 50% of the oxygen we breathe comes from the ocean.
  4. Every minute, the world loses an area of forest equivalent to 48 football fields.
  5. A single quart of motor oil, if disposed of improperly, can contaminate up to 2 million gallons of fresh water.

There were so many groups around the Greater Moncton area that participated to help clean up our city. Thanks to our neighbors that helped in any part of the city cleanup.

Together, we can make every day Earth Day!
